Ekpyrotic Universe

Cosmology is the
branch of physics that studies the physical universe. The central thesis of
Cosmology is the Big Bang Theory, that the universe had a beginning, and that
time and space began with the Big Bang.
The Big Bang model doesn't explain why the Big Bang occurred and what existed
before the Big Bang, and this has bothered some scientists. A few cosmologists,
after several years of mathematical development, have introduced a new model,
based on string theory, which explains how the Big Bang might have occurred. The
result of this theory is the concept of an Ekpyrotic Universe. There are
parallels between the Ekpyrotic Universe and the Mormon understanding of the
creation of the Cosmos. |
